Captain Bed

A bed is a special piece of household furniture whose top surface is intended for purposes of relaxation and sleep. Beds come in many different types, designs, and kinds, each serving a special purpose and providing various features.

Arising from various needs are beds that offer other features and functions besides being a piece of furniture for sleep. Some beds are intended for saving and maximizing space, while others are also intended for storage of clothes and other objects. An example of this type of beds is the captain bed.

What is a captain bed?

A captain bed is a form of platform bed whose space beneath can be used for storage. Platform beds are beds that are elevated from the ground, allowing roomy space beneath, which is usually used for storage of various objects such as clothes and bedding.

What are the advantages of using a captain bed?

Also known as captain’s bed, cabin bed, or chest bed, captain beds are usually built with storage compartments and drawers in the space under the bed surface. This feature of captain beds saves space for separate cabinets or drawers.

Traditionally, this type of beds was used in cabins where there is a need to save room space. By making use of the space under the bed, captain beds save people the trouble (and the cost) of getting a separate piece of furniture for storage of clothes and other bedroom needs.

While hugely functional and relatively cost-efficient, captain beds are also stylish, coming in various designs and styles to fit a bedroom’s overall design.

Captain bed sizes, designs, and styles

Like other types of beds, captain beds also come in various sizes. They come in standard bed sizes: single (or twin), double (or full), queen size, and king size. Though these bed sizes are usually standardized, the measurement of each bed size usually differs among countries. Some countries have slightly longer or wider bed dimensions.

Captain beds also come in various finishing styles, colors, and designs. The most common are honey, oak, black, and natural. With these various finishing styles, captain beds can be versatile enough to fit in with any home décor or room color.

Captain beds also come along with other bed accessories such as pillows, blankets, bed skirts, dust ruffles, and pillowcases. These bed accessories also come in various styles, sizes, and designs to fit with the room’s decors as well.
